If there is one style of coat I would recommend everyone to invest in, it would be a camel coat. I can’t believe I waited for so long to get my own!
I treated myself to my first Max Mara coat for my 30th birthday, after which I decided every year I would buy one less handbag and invest in a statement coat instead. For my 31st I bought this beauty – the Kriss Coat by Max Mara… it’s literally made from camel hair.
When I saw this camel trench coat in store and the runway image (worn here by Halima Aden) it completely took my breath away. I had been looking for an oversized camel coat and was originally thinking I’d get the Manuela by Max Mara, but this beauty stole my heart. I wasn’t sure if I was tall enough to pull it off, as it is quite oversized and very long (I am a mere 5’5 – substantially below standard model height) but somehow it works!
For this look, I wore head-to-toe brown check to compliment the camel. Both top and trouser are from Zara (of course!). I particularly love the patchwork fabric high neck and shoulder detailing on this top. The high waist trousers are made of a stretchy material; they’re both comfortable and formal.
But back to that coat… it’s extremely versatile and luxurious. I’ve literally been wearing it everywhere!
