Blue & Grey Check

Yet, somewhere I lost track of my blog and forgot to post this outfit combo for the run up to spring… i.e. sunny spells and gale force winds.

Even though this outfit doesn’t really suit the current London climate, I am sure these grey Stuart Weitzman Tieland over-the-knee boots will still be relevant! Infact, as designers are now releasing their Autmun/Winter collections, this whole outfit is relevant! I don’t know about you, but I often feel overwhelmed by how quickly brands update their collections (usually weekly) and then suddenly my wardrobe feels old and outdated.

Sometimes it takes strong will power to not cave into over-consumerism with fashion. Especially now that I have this blog, I want to be responsible with fashion rather than submit to fast fashion. With social media and the availability to buy directly from Instagram, it is all to easy to want and have what everyone else is wearing right now.

But does this really sustain a working woman’s wardrobe…? Is this the example we want to set for young girls and teenagers. I think its good to cling on to old investment pieces (splurge on quality with longevity) and update your wardrobe with a few cheaper seasonal items. Use this concoction and recycle old-wardrobe favourites to develop your own unique style. I was feeling this outfit would be so out of place if I posted it now, but it can be a little inspiration for the next season!

I have gone back to a usual colour palette of blue and grey, and stealing some more inspiration from menswear! Typical me. The star of this look has to be this Zara Man blazer in navy blue and grey, with a gradient check effect. It’s a less fitted style then the previous Zara Man blazer I purchased (seen here) but I love the oversized style; it provides a nice balance to the fitted skirt and boots.

The sweater from Cos in blue-grey tone is another menswear addition. I really am impressed with Cos knitwear, its very soft and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin (my journey down the skincare rabbit hole could feed a whole other blog!). The oversized sweater layers beautifully under the blazer, and provides a sophisticated draping effect over the skirt’s waistline.

The blazer and the sweater are definitely two items I will be taking into the summer season with me for those chilly evenings. And no, my boyfriend can’t have them back!
